The Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) who is also the Chief Wildlife Warden of the state does the overall supervision of the PAs and reports to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Principal Secretary in the department of Environment and Forests. Officers of the Department of Environment & Forests in the rank of Deputy Conservator of Forests head the Wildlife Sanctuaries and National Parks including the Biosphere Reserve. The WLS and NP are divided into smaller administrative units called as Ranges and are headed by a Forest Range Officer. The Beats are the administrative units of the Ranges and are normally headed by a Beat Officer who usually is a Forester.

The NPs and WLS are managed as per the prescription laid down in the management plan of the respective PAs. The management plans are written by the respective PA managers and are to be approved by the State Government and are of 5-year period. Census is carried out periodically to ascertain the status of the Wildlife population and documentation of habitat is also done.
Legal Provisions: The National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries are created as per the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1975. The Biosphere Reserve does not have a legal entity. The provisions of The Wildlife (Protection) Act 1975 and The Arunachal Pradesh Wildlife Protection Act are applicable along with the provisions of Assam Forests Regulation and Indian Forests Act for the protection of the National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries.
