 Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary: - Pakke Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the East Kameng District and covers an area of 861.95 Sq.Km. Initially Pakke WLS was the Pakhui Reserved Forests and was declared as a Game sanctuary vide Notification No. 32/54 Dated 28.05.77 and was declared as a Wildlife Sanctuary vide Government notification No. CWL/D/26/94/1393-1492 dated 19.4.2001.
Flora: - The forest dealt with can be classified as Assam valley tropical semi evergreen forest (2B/C I) as per Champion and Seth's revised classification. The altitude varies from 100 mtrs in the southern boundary to 2040 mtrs in the northern boundary.
Fauna: -
Approach: - Nyishi are the surrounding tribe and the major festival is Nyokum celeberated during Febuary.The headquarters of the sanctuary is located at Seijosa. Seijosa has regular bus/taxi connection with Itanagar and Tezpur. The nearest airport is Tezpur which has a biweekly Indian Airlines flight to Kolkata. The nearest railway head is at Bhalukpong.
